Rare Earth Oxides [REO]

So called rare because of their existence in very low concentrations rather than scarcity. They are more of a by-product of mining and processing of other more industrialised ores.

Rare earth oxides and their elements (metals) are used in geological tracing, special ceramics, nuclear power, magnets, batteries, phosphors, optics, superconductors, electronics and enhancing tungsten's HT properties.

REO's are traded in a mixed carbonate form containing min 50% TREO, generally in a combination of the following oxides:

  • La2O3, CeO2, Pr6O11, Nd2O3, Sm2O3.

Prices are based on total TREO in USD/kg.
