Selenium[Se]

Selenium is a non-metal although can show a greyish-white lustre. It has a density of 4.84 g/cc and a melting point of 220 ^degC. Although it has semi-conductive and photo-conductive properties, it is now mainly used in the glass-making to decolour or provide red colouration.

Other applications have included additions to special steels and copper alloys to aid machining, for printer and copier drums, pigments, rubbers and chemicals.
