Tantalum[Ta]
A shiny-grey metal having a density of 16.6 g/cc and melting point of 2996 degC. It is extremely corrosion resistant, soft and ductile which makes it useful for chemical processing plant, medical implants and as additions to super-alloys where enhanced elevated temperature strength is required. Its high density is applied to special ballistics. Tantalum's largest market application is due to the special dielectric properties of its oxide which is made use of in electronic capacitors. Its oxide is also used in optical lens materials to increase the refractive index.
A&M Minerals Ltd offers tantalum in various forms including ingot, billet, bar, wire, powder and scrap.
